So it took my like half a year (literally) to finish this book. I would just get so distracted with other books! This one is so large that it takes over YOUR LIFE. I finally made it my book car so I got the audiobook. And let me tell you, someone reading this book to you is kind of awesome.
Sansa is still betrothed to Joffrey, the horrible child king who likes to beat women and yet still calls got his mommy when he is in trouble.
Arya is still on the run, pretending to be a boy. She saves a prisoners life who says to thank her, he will take three lives for her. But Arya’s list of those she wants to kill is growing and growing and growing…who will she pick?
Jon is sworn to the wall and is on a quest beyond the wall. Where Giants, Children of the Forest, White Walkers, Free Folk, Shadowcats, and other creatures of the winter nights. He catches himself a Wildling/Free Folk girl tho that tells him stories of his ancestors…
Theon is tired of his sister getting all his rightfully-born glory. He needs to do something to show he deserves it. So he takes over Winterfell. The people don’t love him though. And some of high blood are trying to escape from under his thumb.
Daenerys is just trying to get to her rightful throne: The Iron Throne. She has her dragons and is now trying to gather an army and ships. But it’s harder than it seems. Everyone wants something in return and it is usually her dragons or her bed. Some are even trying to take her life.
Tyrion is over his sister. He is the King’s Hand, appointed by their father, and is trying to set be he kingdom straight under his nephews rule. He is hiding his whore, fighting a war, and trying to keep the young lady Sansa safe from the child king.
Catelyn is trying to make the Baratheon brothers bond together to take out the bigger evil: Lannister. But they aren’t having it. After one kills the other by magic, a lady knight is taken under Catelyn’s wing. Robb is still king of the North, but the Baratheons called him a traitor. Does this mean the love between the two families is severed?
Davos is worried about his lord, wait no, his King Stannis Baratheon. He has taken a Red Lady who does very dark magic under is arm and is practically making her his right hand man. Stannis won’t listen to anything that he says. All he is worried about is getting his right to the throne over his brother, the incest-born child king, that Stark Boy and any other stupid guy who thinks the throne is his. And he will kill anyone who stands in his way to his throne.
Bran is living in his dreams. He becomes a wolf and chases three eyed crows. One of his peers hears this and calls him a warg: someone who can enter the mind of any other living thing. When the prince’s kingdom is taken over by a man who was once his friend, he must figure out a way to free himself and his little brother.
This world is WONDERFUL. It doesn’t matter if you are a “good guy” or if you do the right thing, you can still die. The bad guy may actually get what he wants. There are no rules. Magic is there but it isn’t the main focus. The main focus is power, which is what humanity focuses on as well.
That’s it: this book is very human.
The Clash of Kings is a wonderful continuation of Game of Thrones. Martin has the different voices for each character depending on morals, gender and age. The writing is a ten out of ten. Martin is taking forever to write these but if he was rushed it wouldn’t be as wonderful as a masterpiece.
Excited about the next one!
